Loop Detector Replaced at California Avenue and Nanea Avenue

Nanea AveMembers of the Wahiawa community reported that the traffic signal at the intersection of California Avenue and Nanea Avenue was malfunctioning. The issue raised serious safety concerns as people were running the red light or driving through the Wahiawa Botanical Gardens parking lot to avoid the light.  Council Chair Ernest Martin’s office generated a request for investigation and service to address the concern.  As a result, the contractor replaced the loop detectors at the intersection and the traffic signal is now operating properly.

Honolulu City Council Kills Trash Pickup Fee

Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s proposal to charge a $10 trash pickup fee to Oahu homeowners was unanimously defeated in the Budget Committee yesterday. Members of the Honolulu City Council shared their concerns and the comments received from constituents that contacted their offices regarding the lack of enforcement and hardship for members in our community.
