Noise Advisory for C-17 Aircraft on Wheeler Army Airfield

4 02 2016

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Individuals in the vicinity of Wheeler Army Airfield can expect an increase in noise February 8, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., due to the scheduled landing of an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, here.

The C-17 is landing on Wheeler to support an Army training exercise called “Lightning Forge.” Lightning Forge is the 25th Infantry Division’s largest training exercise on Oahu.

Aircraft times are subject to change as the training is contingent on weather that could impact visibility or safe runway conditions.

The Army in Hawaii appreciates the community’s understanding and continued support of local Soldiers and their families. While sometimes loud, the sounds of training represent how the Army ensures our nation’s Soldiers are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely.

To report concerns related to noise or training, please call the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii (USAG-HI) Noise Concern Line at 656-3487. The USAG-HI Public Affairs Office will contact you about your concern during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
