25th Infantry Division Large- Scale Training – Lightning Forge October 27 – November 8

20 10 2016

The 25th Infantry Division will be conducting a large-scale training exercise called Lightning Forge, October 27 – November 8.

Training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators will occur during daytime and nighttime hours at various Army training areas across Oahu, to include: East Range, Dillingham Army Airfield and Kahuku Training Area.

Residents can expect an increase in helicopter flights, vehicle convoys, as well as more contact with Soldiers during this time period. Updated announcements regarding exercise-related training noise and convoys will be published closer to the actual training events.

Increased military traffic will occur during the exercise on Kamehameha Highway from Schofield Barracks to Kahuku Training Area; and on H2 / H1 / H3 and Kamehameha Highway to Marine Corps Training Area Bellows.  Convoy times will be scheduled during non-peak daytime hours or at night to avoid traffic issues.

Due to road damage Drum Road to Kahuku Training Area is not fully accessible for the Lightning Forge exercise.  The damage has created a significant safety concern which could result in damage or loss of equipment and more importantly risk for loss of life.  A repair contract has been awarded with completion scheduled for July 2017.

The Army appreciates your understanding and support of Lightning Forge to train and prepare our Soldiers and units to safeguard our freedoms.
